Founded in 1730 as a sake brewery, Hakuro Shuzo is located in Yamakawa, Ibusuki City, at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula—the place where sweet potatoes were first introduced to Japan. We use natural spring water from the foothills of Mount Kaimon, recognized as one of Japan's Top 100 Water Villages, for every batch of shochu. Remaining faithful to traditional production methods, we mature our shochu for at least one year to fully develop its flavor.
